Thank you for this page dedicated to my father.  John Singer Lancaster served in Germany during the occupation.  He may have reached Corporal, as an ambulance driver in Heidelberg?   He later was a driver for a General in Washington, DC.  He applied for a position at the State Department, but was rejected owing to his mother having communist sympathies.  From 1953 until 2022 he and Virginia were residents of Barnard, Vermont.  John S. Lancaster died at age 94, in Lebanon, NH (DHMC) on January 14, 2022 (memorial June 2022).  His wife, Virginia, predeceased him, passing in Woodstock VT in October, 2020 (memorial Sep 2021).  John and Virginia had three sons and one daughter.  His youngest son, John Herbert, born 1960, predeceased him in 2007.
